Woohoo!

It’s the last week of lectures! Now I am really regretting taking 7 classes…

I have so many finals, but I took off work and cheer is on a break until we start practicing for next season so I am all clear to study! I have lots to study for!

Today I had a paper due for history, my last photo due for photography, I took my surprisingly hard golf final (luckily I studied so it ended up being easy), and now Im ready for this reporting final!!

Well, this class was not like any other class I’ve had. It was great because all my other classes, the professors just stand in the front and read their powerpoints. This class we actually participated and received CANDY! haha

Ive been to greek week my first two years and it was so fun to watch! My boyfriend is in a fraternity and i remember helping with thier background designs for skit. My dog, mini me

Lately I’ve been noticing how my dog Belle has a similar personality as me. My mom keeps telling me how if I had a dog version of me she would be it. She loves to snuggle and take naps like me. She hates to be waken up and when she is, she is really grumpy. I hate to be waken up, especially if I have my alarm set and someone wakes me up before my alarm goes off….even if it’s just one minute.

Another thing I noticed is she loves to play only for a couple minutes and then she wants to just relax. That is exactly how I am. I went to an Angel game and during the sixth inning I wanted to go home and relax. Belle is also the baby of our three dogs, and Im the baby in my family too. My other dogs are boys and she bullies them around and they are twice as big as her. It is really funny how she can boss them around and they let her; she’s the queen bee of the house and we call her Princess Belle.

My junior year of high school we bought a white maltipoo named Bam Bam. Pebbles died around my 18th birthday (I was devestated) so was Bam Bam. A year later my sister decided she wanted a dog with her boyfriend, and they bought Bentley a black lab. A couple months later I decided I wanted a dog too so I bought a light brown maltipoo named Belle. (We stuck to B names haha because my sister and I have B names. Growing up, we had a black lab named Misty. Misty followed my sister and I around everywhere we went. Misty went everywhere with us, and we were devastated when she died of old age at 16. She was my mom’s dog before my sister and I were even born, so you could imagine how hard it was for my mom…

emilymorenz: I just posted why I cannot wait for summer and then I saw your post! Summer is my absolute favorite season! I love buying new bathing suits and eating ice cream. Yum! I totally agree with your post!

Even though my last post was all about how much I love rain/cozy weather, there is another type of weather I love…sunny! You see, I either like it like cloudy, cold, and rainy or I like it super hot and sunny (no in between). So now that this week has been in the high 80’s I have been super happy…

Where's Summer?

I am now regretting taking seven classes.

All my work is getting piled up and the class I regret the most is my bio lab class because it is on Fridays from 3-5:50pm. I have no clue why I scheduled it that way. I am not only losing hours at work, but it is cutting away from other things I need to do or attend. Luckily my professor is really nice!

I really cannot wait for summer to come!

My summer events:

1. MY 21ST BIRTHDAY!!! That means going to Vegas! Yay! I am so excited!

2. My sister’s Bachelorette Party. Since I am the maid of honor I get the honor of planning this special event. I am throwing her two parties; one party for all the aunts and girlfriends to come and the other party in Vegas for her close friends and bridesmaids. That will definitely be fun. Vegas will be in September and the family party will be in August. The family party has a theme which is “White Party/Cupcakes & Cocktails”. So every guest must wear white. I love themed parties!

3. I get to start my duties as cheer captain/president! Yay! Next year will be so exciting! I already have the whole year planned out and I am so happy we finally have a coach! Last year our coach got fired so we had to run our own program and if you think about it…a bunch of girls trying to teach each other how to do things is not the best idea. We ended up making an e-board and now we are organized! If you all aren’t doing anything May 18^th at 6pm, we are performing at Quakes Stadium in Rancho. It is actually Cal Poly Day!

So that is why I cannot wait for summer.

Trends that went tooooooo far

Lately I have been thinking about how some trends have gone too far. It is really fun to be addicted to a new app until the creators start getting carried away. Or when fashion trends get carried away.

Here are a couple of trends that have gone wild:

1.) Nail art. I know most girls will kill me for saying this, but lately nail art has gotten way too crazy!! Here are some examples:

^these are nice, go for the glitter and multi color look…

^who doesnt like cupcakes?! This is a little much…

^Not only are the nails longer, but the design is crazier. I am not sure you would be taken seriously if you wear these for too long.

NOW FOR THE BAD ONES:

^Not only are these 3D, but they are not functional! If you hit something one of the flowers will come off and then i will look odd.

^These are just way too long. How do you button your jeans or pick up your pencil for notes?!

^OK. Props for your artistic abilities, but do you really need a mural on your nails?

2.) Celebrities trying to be “unique”. Theres a difference between being unique but still able to relate to your fans and just over the top madness. Let’s take a look:

3.) Angry birds. That app was so cool to play until…don don dooooonnn…they made a movie out of it, tshirts, back packs, stuffed animals, other versions, new characters. They missed the message that everyone loved the original and now everyone is over it. Why? Because they went way to far and that pushed people away.

4.)Hair trends. Ill admit hair trends have always gone to far, but these past couple of years have broken some records!

If you are going to do the dark to light hair, blend it!

Student Stereotypes

Sometimes in class I like to observe how different students get through the lecture. I am going to list my favorite student stereotypes in a classroom (Sorry Professor Spoon):

-First you have the front row of students who bought their books before the first day and take the most detailed notes you have ever seen.

-Next you have the students who extremely organized and color coordinate their notes with highlighters and colored pens.

-Then you have the PC laptop student where their laptop sounds like it breathes heavier then the student with asthma.

-Next you have the student with the Apple computer who likes to do everything, but take notes. If not, half notes on that cool notebook feature (from Microsoft Word 2010) and the other half doing who knows what.

Those are the top four I have in almost every class.

Here are some more for laughs! Tell me if one of these are you:

-The student that does homework for another class.

-The student who plays “Draw Something” and starts laughing randomly during class.

-The student who comes in sweatpants, half asleep…and it’s a one o’clock class.

-The student who is watching a television show they missed the night before.

-The student who has bags under their eyes because they stayed up until 3AM doing their paper last minute because that party was going to be epic!

-The student looking at odd pictures that half to do with dragon slaying, video games, or pictures with funny captions.

-The student who brings a whole meal to class and is crunching extremely loud and doesn’t care. (The worst)

-The student online shopping.

-The student who has an answer to every question the professor asks…or a story.

-The student who answers questions with random “smart” words that do not make sense.

…and my favorite

-The student is just knocked out asleep.

I have been at Cal Poly for three years, and over the years I have seen all of these in my classes. (Not all at once)

Broke Girl Problems

A couple of minutes ago, I paid for my coffee in change…CHANGE! Not only did I feel dumb giving the cashier all my silver change, but I even had to stoop down to a lower level of poor-ness and give her a few pennies. The first weeks of school are not my richest weeks. I have to pay for my parking pass which is unnecessary expensive, books which fifty dollars will cover almost half of one book, and all the extra supplies. It is ridiculous how much we have to pay and what is more frustrating is some of my professors only have us read just one or two chapters of the hundred dollar book that I spent from my pocket.

I always have a plan for the quarter, I observe which class will actually be needing the required text and I buy the one that needs it the most. It is not fair on the students part when the professor only refers to the text once or twice out of the quarter and the book is around one hundred dollars, it’s ridiculous. For example, last quarter my physics professor did not talk about the book the entire quarter and a physics text book can cost almost two hundred dollars. To be honest, I did not buy the book and I took really detailed notes and did better then some of the students who purchased the book.

This quarter, it seems like I have buy all my books for my classes because in two of them, I am going to get quizzed on the readings. By the way, I am taking seven classes, so just imagine how many books I am going to be buying. Lets just say, my boyfriend’s and best friend’s birthday presents are going to have to wait another payday Friday until they receive their gifts. I’m sure they will understand.
